Sodium-ion technology has finally landed on the PV market.
The Asian startup BIWATT is revolutionizing the PV storage market by offering a fully integrated ESS solution based on sodium-ion technology. The POWERNEST hybrid inverter of the Powerwall type integrates 5.5kW of discharge power, manages up to 5000W of solar panels and includes a 3.6kWh sodium-ion battery. The battery technology used is of the sodium-ion type and is manufactured by the Chinese manufacturer HINA. The fully integrated ESS solution is very competitive with the reduced costs of sodium-ion batteries, which are about 30% cheaper than lithium-ion batteries.
